The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed in 1990 to make buildings and open spaces in the community accessible to persons with disabilities. However, much of the public infrastructure in the United States does not meet compliance with the ADA accessibility guidelines. This makes it difficult for the individuals with disabilities to fully engage in community activities.
To help organizations improve the accessibility of their facilitiess, Global Abilities conducts site assessments and provide recommendations to become compliant with the 2010 ADA Accessibility Guidelines. In 2014 GAF teams surveyed twenty-four different locations in Philadelphia.
Global Abilities taught our Accessibility Improvement Program to graduate programs in Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy at five universities in 2014.
